Hello! My name is Matt, and I am a professionally trained singer and a self-taught guitarist. I call my solo act Sneaker Street. I sing a wide range of cover songs. So far, I have over 300 songs in my catalog. I have songs from the mid 1900’s all the way up to present-day. I sing songs from most popular genres, including Canadian folk music, pop, rock, alternative, metal, and even jazz and classical tunes. I love vocal harmonies so much that I have worked them into my show using a really neat guitar/vocals pedal so that one of me can sound magically like two or three different voices – adding invaluable emphasis at key points in a song. People often note that it doesn’t seem to matter exactly what song I am singing – that its all about the vibes and the energy. So I do my best to chose songs that get me into that headspace. And I also enjoy song requests, especially if I know the song. If not, I have a running list of song requests to learn for next time! My roots are singing high school musicals and vocal ensembles. Later, I trained with coaches in the Sooke Community Choir, the Sooke Philharmonic Chorus, and in recent years, with Spencer Welch Vocal Studio’s Singing Ignition program. Read Less
